No 2009 Festival, but we'll be back in 2010!
Sadly, there will be no Newark Jazz
Festival in 2009 due to circumstances beyond our control.
But thank you for your continued support - we'll be
back! [The Newark Jazz Festival Directors]
The good news is that we’re already planning
for Newark Jazz Festival 2010. It will be our best Festival
yet!
Meanwhile, to keep the jazz flame burning, there will
be some great live jazz at several Newark venues over
the weekend of May 15-17, 2009 including:

An amazing mix of musicians are tuning-up for
this years fantastic Lincoln BIG (Business
Improvement Group) Jazz Week.
And they include new faces and returning artistes,
who proved popular at the 2008 event.
From Monday, May 18 2009 to Sunday, May 24,
Lincoln will come alive with a string of free
events, featuring everything from continental
swing to blues sounds, designed to appeal to everyone.

Trumpeter Tony O’ Sullivan studied in New Orleans with
George Guesnon and DeDe Pierce and is an authority on
early jazz.
He is joined by the great trombonist and vocalist,
Mike Pointon who played alongside American jazz greats
George Lewis, Albert Nicholas and Capt. John Handy,
founded the original Kid Martyn band and toured with
the late greats George Melly and Ken Colyer.
Flying in from the southern States is pianist Chris
Saunders to accompany superb slap bassist Jim Swinnerton
and clarinettist Roger Bird.
